Visit a local arts and crafts store and by a pre-cut 11-by-14 mat and frame. Most craft stores carry a variety of mats in different colors, some with their own frames. You can also purchase a frame separately.
2Place the mat on a clean, flat surface so the back side is facing you. Ensure the mat is positioned either vertically or horizontally to fit the picture.
3Place your picture onto the mat with the photo's image facing down. Align the photo so it fits perfectly over the mat's opening.
4Apply a small piece of tape to the top and bottom of the picture so it stays in place. Flip the mat over to ensure the picture is viewed perfectly through the opening. If not, adjust the photo. When it's matted the way you want it, tape the remaining corners of the picture to the mat.
5Place the matted photo into an 11-by-14 frame and display your picture.
