Nearly everyone displays photos of friends and family at home, work and even in plastic picture holders in wallets. However, traditional ways of displaying photos dont always work well. By finding creative ways to personalize your photos, you can display them as art pieces. With a little imagination and some simple craft supplies, you can display your photos as original pieces of jewelry or creative clusters.
Instructions
Photo Jewelry
- 1
Center your pendant blank over the part of your photo you want to preserve. Gently press the photo into the blank, making a crease around the desirable part of the photo. Pendant blanks are metal shapes with decorative rims around the edge for holding pictures and resin.
2Cut your photo out just inside the crease to make sure it will fit inside the pendant blank. Smear a little glue on the back of the picture and press it into the pendant blank.
3Arrange a few small charms over your photo. They can be small rhinestones, tiny scrapbook stickers, like keys, passports, hearts or holiday ornaments. Glue them in place or remove the adhesive backing to the stickers and secure them in place.
4Pour a little resin powder into a small plastic container. Add the activator from your kit, according to package directions, stirring gently with a popsicle stick. Pour the resin on top of the photo and charms. Let it cure for about 48 hours.
Cardboard Bubble Cluster
- 5
Gather together cardboard tubes of all sizes. Peel away as much adhesive and residue from the tubes as you can. Paper towels, butcher paper rolls, craft paper rolls and more all have cardboard tubes in them.
6Cut your tubes into smaller sections from about 1 inch to no more than 4 inches wide. Spray paint them all different colors inside and out. Use acrylic paint to decorate the outsides of the tube sections.
7Spread out your photos and decide which ones work best with each size tube. Family portraits work best with bigger tubes, while single portraits work just fine with smaller ones.
8Place a corresponding tube over each photo and trace around the tube lightly with a pencil. Cut out each picture and run glue around the rim of the tube. Set the picture on the glue, press and let dry. You can either place the picture on top of the tube or behind it. Alternate for best results.
9Arrange your cardboard tubes so they touch each other, creating a cluster that looks like a bunch of bubbles. Rearrange them until you find a shape you like. Hot glue the tubes together on the sides. Push thumbtacks into the wall and hang your art.
