Turn the camera 90 degrees and take the picture in that position. This is a simple but effective and instantaneous way of making a photo "longer." Technically, you are adjusting the orientation of a normally rectangular visual field to make it vertical, giving the impression of increased length.
2Rotate an image 90 degrees by using photo editing software. Some computer operating systems come bundled with basic, free editing software. To rotate, click on an image and select "Rotate 90 degrees" or "Rotate 270 degrees" to apply the same vertical effect as in Step 1.
3Alter the dimensions of a photo manually by selecting it in the editing software, clicking one corner with the cursor, and dragging the image until you reach your desired dimensions. Depending on the program you are using, you may have to right-click and select "Edit."
4Input specific dimensions by selecting an image and clicking "Resize," then naming the specific width and height values you want. For example, you can make a 300-by-500 pixel photo longer by changing it to 300 by 1000 pixels (or any number greater than 500, for the sake of this example.)
