How to Take Tam Panel Pictures ~ Enhance Photography Skill

Tam panel pictures are used to test whether a non-porous material is effective against penetrating substances. Some non-porous materials may have surface breaks so small that you cannot see them. Before taking a tam panel picture, you should coat the material you are testing with a liquid dye. The dye will seep into any breaks in the surface of the material. The dye will be visible in the tam panel picture and will show you the location of any breaks in the surface of the material.

Instructions

Adjust the white balance manually on the camera. Take a picture of something white under white light and use this as the white balance setting for taking tam panel pictures.

Attach the camera to a steady tripod to prevent inadvertently shaking the camera with your hands while you take the picture.

Put a UV-filter on the camera lens.

Turn off the lights. Any excess light in the room could negatively affect the quality of your tam panel picture.

Take several pictures at different exposures. Each exposure should be longer than 1/2 second.
