2Check that your home or office scanner is capable of scanning slides. Many home or office scanners claim to be able to scan slides, but the end quality may be poor. In general, if you are using a home or office scanner, you will need to have a flatbed scanner that can be used for scanning artwork.
3Purchase a dedicated slide scanner if you need to make digital copies of a large collection of slides at high quality. If purchasing a slide scanner is too much of an investment, consider taking your slides to a digitalization service.
4Clean the slides thoroughly with a soft cloth before scanning. Make sure there is no dust or dirt that might be picked up by the scanner on the slides.
5Load the slide into the scanner. Select the resolution you decided on earlier, adjust the scanner settings appropriately, and scan the slide.
6Adjust the settings and scan the slide again if you are unsatisfied with the first images.
7Make adjustments to the digital image in an image editing program such as Photoshop to more closely match the digital image with the original slide.
