How to Use Channel Mixer to Fix Blue Channel

Taking photos with a good balance of color and light is difficult, especially if you don't have the appropriate lens filters. Photo-editing software, such as Photoshop and GIMP, include a tool called a channel mixer that allows you to change the amounts of red, green and blue that make up an image. If the blue channel in one of your photos is adding noise or excessive brightness, you can fix the blue channel by modifying the blue output channel until the photo looks clear and balanced.

Instructions

Open the image in a photo-editing program, such as GIMP or Photoshop.

Open the channel mixer. The channel mixer is located in an effects, color, or image adjustment menu in the menu bar.

Set the output channel to blue.

Decrease the value of the blue channel, and increase the values of the red and green channels until the total of all combined channels equals 100 percent or less, and the image looks balanced. If the image looks too saturated or bright, the values of the red and green channels might be too high.
