While the Canon 1Ds Mk3 comes with a perfectly usable focusing screen from the manufacturing plant, many photographers prefer to change out the standard screen for one that suits their style of photography. With Canon offering more than 15 different focusing screens for the Canon 1Ds Mk3, a suitable screen can be found to suit any photographer's tastes and shooting habits. A couple minutes and some simple tools are all that are required to make the switch.
Instructions
- 1
Remove lens or body cap from the camera and place the camera on a flat surface with the lens mount facing up. Make sure the camera is turned off.
2Locate the focusing screen inside the camera just underneath the prism housing. You will see a small tab holding the focus screen in place.
3Using the tweezers, gently pop the tab open in a downward motion. The focus screen should drop down inside a small metal frame. Slowly lower the screen and frame until both come to a stop at about a 45-degree angle.
4Use the tweezers to grab the edge of the focus screen and lift the screen out of the metal frame. Place screen on cloth.
5Using the tweezers gently grab the edge of the new focusing screen and place in the metal holder.
6Swing the focus screen inside the metal frame back up into the prism using the tweezers to ensure that no fingerprints are left on the focusing screen.
7Snap the tab closed, and you're finished.
