Homemade Photo Tent

A light tent is used to create lighting for macro photography, or taking pictures of small objects. The tent encloses the object, creates a background and diffuses the light from flash or strobe lighting. Light tents are often used for taking stock photographs for online stores because they increase the professionalism and quality of the picture. These simple devices are expensive when you buy them in the store but they are simple and inexpensive to make at home.

Instructions

    1

Use the ruler to draw a box on three sides of the cardboard box. Measure each box two inches from the edge.

    2

Cut the boxes out with the box cutter. Use a ruler as a straight edge for even cutting.

    3

Cut the white poster board the same width as the box and keep the length much longer. Place the board in the box so it touches the bottom front crease and curves out of the top back side of the box. Don't crinkle or crease the paper because it will show in photos. Spray the adhesive on the back of the poster board and stick it to the box.

    4

Cut the fabric to fit over the holes. Tape it on the outside of the holes making sure no tape is visible through the holes.
