Place the original black-and-white photograph carefully into the scanner. Start the computer and open the photo editing software. Select the "File" tab on the tool bar and under the file menu select "Import" to open the import pop-up interface. Click the scanner tab on the import interface and click the "Import" button.
2Wait a moment for the scanner to read the photograph and to bring the digital version into the computer program. Use the "Crop" tool to select the area of the scan to be kept, cut out damaged edges or large open areas of photograph that are undesired.
3Sharpen the image to make the dark areas darker and the light areas lighter. Click the modify button on the tool bar. Scroll the modify menu down to the "Sharpen" tool to pull up a sharpen menu. Select 50% sharpen from the menu and wait a moment as the image renders. Continue this sharpen process until the photo has a desired contrast ratio.
4Place the photo paper in in the printer. Select the "File" tab and scroll down to the "Print" option and click. In the print menu, select the number of copies of the photograph desired. Press the "Print" button and wait for the printer to make a new photo. Carefully cut out the image with scissors.
