How to Edit Pixels in Photos

Almost any type of photo editing software can edit single pixels in photographs, and while professional-quality photo programs offer more options when editing pictures, pixels can be edited in a common art program like Microsoft Paint. Almost every PC comes from the factory with Microsoft Paint already installed. The most difficult aspect of editing single pixels in a digital photograph is figuring out what color to change the pixel to to keep the photograph realistic looking.

Instructions

    1

    Open Microsoft Paint.

    2

Click the "File" tab in the upper-left corner of the screen. Choose "Open" from the drop-down menu.

    3

Choose the photo that you would like to edit and double-click it. This will open the photo in Paint.

    4

Click the magnifying glass symbol from the toolbar on the left side of the screen. Place the box over the section of the picture you want to edit. Magnify the section of the photo until you are as close as you can get.

    5

Click the Pencil tool from the toolbar. The pencil draws single pixel dots. Pick the appropriate color and edit your photo pixel by pixel.
