A photo mug is a personal and memorable gift to give to someone special. Many times people will choose to send a photo mug to a loved one who is far away. If you have to mail a mug, it is important that you package it well and take proper measures to ensure that the mug will reach its destination safely.
Instructions
Packaging the Mug
- 1
Take the mug and carefully wrap it in plastic wrap. This will help ensure that the picture on the mug will not scratch during shipping as well as keep the mug from breaking.
2Select a mailing box. Choose a box that is as small as possible while still allowing room for the mug and packing materials. Choosing a box that is too large leaves more room for shifting during shipping, something you don't want to occur.
3Wrap the mug in white tissue paper. Colored paper might leave stains on the mug. Use multiple layers so that the mug is well-protected, especially around the handle. Add a wadded-up piece of tissue to the inside of the mug as well.
4Place a few wads of tissue paper in the bottom of the box and then gently place the mug inside.
5Fill any loose areas in the box with more wads of tissue paper until the mug is firmly packed in.
6Seal the box tightly with packing tape.
7Clearly label the box with the sending and return address. Some mailing boxes will have pre-printed lines for addresses. If not, you can purchase stick-on labels at the post office.
Mail the Mug
- 8
Visit your local post office and take your package either to the counter or self-serve kiosk.
9Choose your shipping options. If the mug is traveling overseas, you may wish to purchase insurance. You also may wish to ask about labeling the package "fragile" so that it is given extra care during shipping.
10Purchase the correct amount of postage to ship your mug. This is done by weight of the package unless you are using a flat-rate box.
