How to Photograph Your Three-Month-Old

Three months old is a good time to capture shots of a baby. The baby is smiling around three to four months and making eye contact. Photographing at this age comes with challenges. The baby might be fussy or cry during the shooting time. Capturing shots of a 3-month-old often requires patience from the photographer and a well-fed and rested baby for best cooperation.

Instructions

    1

Charge the camera battery fully and make sure to leave room on the memory card for many shots. Create a backdrop and clear clutter from the photography area. Take photos with a back light, which can just be a regular lamp, behind the camera.

    2

Feed the baby, or ask the parents to make sure the baby is fed. Schedule the shoot for a time the baby is usually awake. Also, make sure the baby is changed.

    3

Place the baby on a prop like a baby nursing pillow so the baby is comfortable and lifted. Many babies can be placed flat on their stomach at three months old and that position make for good photographs.

    4

Stimulate the baby by smiling, singing or laughing to get the baby to laugh and make facial expressions. Take photographs at the same time.

    5

Stop taking photographs if the baby starts crying and either wait until after a nap, feeding or diaper change to start again or end the photo session.
