Perhaps you've taken a picture of your children or a nighttime sky filled with stars or a beautiful sunset and thought the photo would make a perfect bookmark. You can easily do so with photo editing software and a little patience. It's easy to create bookmarks from your photos you enjoy looking at as you use them to hold your place in your favorite books and magazines. You can also use the bookmarks as a way to publicize and promote your work if you run your own photography business.
Instructions
- 1
Open the digital image you want to turn into a bookmark in photo editing software installed on your computer. Reduce your image size to 600 pixels by 1890 pixels, or 1.9 inches wide by 6.3 inches tall. Set your canvas size to the same dimensions.
2Collate resized images that appear as bookmarks into a blank word processing document. Line them up next to each other on the page to fit four or five bookmarks on one page.
3Load high-quality glossy or matte-finished photo paper into your photo printer, and print one copy of the page. Check the printed copy to ensure the bookmark looks right. Save the page if desired.
4Place the sheet on a cutting board. Use a utility knife and a metal ruler to cut out the bookmarks along their edges. Opt to leave a white space of 2 mm around the edges if you want the bookmarks to have a slight frame.
5Punch a hole in the top of the bookmarks, and tie a piece of ribbon, yarn or thin cord through it, if desired.
