Creating a Filmstrip
- 1
Open Adobe Photoshop and create a new file. Fill the blank page with a gray to white gradient, making the top of the page gray as this fades into a lighter gray in the middle, and becomes white at the bottom bottom of the page.
2Draw a rectangle in the middle of the page, from the left side of the page, to the right side, using the rectangle marquee tool. The rectangle should be about 1 to 2 inches in width. Fill the rectangle in with black.
3Carve out individual squares on your new black filmstrip by using the rounded rectangle tool. Once you get a square that is the size and shape you want (play around with the radius), use CTRL+J to duplicate the exact same square. Create a line of them within your rectangle. This will give your image look of a real filmstrip.
4Minimize the rounded rectangle tool to a one or two radius and create a line of holes on the top and bottom of your filmstrip. Press Ctrl+J to duplicate these holes as well. You now have your basic filmstrip.
5Add images to your filmstrip by selecting your own personal images or using royalty-free images. Use the rounded rectangular tool to crop and minimize your image. Place the image on one of your film squares, and create a new layer for your pooch. He will sit behind the filmstrip making it look like a real filmstrip. Repeat this step for all of your squares.
