In the era of portable devices, there is almost no person who doesn't have a camera when travelling. In addition, all newer models of mobile phones have a built-in camera. As technology advances and cheaper and more quality cameras emerge on the market, more people are starting to take photos and share them on photography websites. Everything can be a subject of photography but there are some places across the country where you can capture some breathtaking moments.

Wildlife Photography

The Klamath Basin, Oregon, offers rare scenery of migrating waterfowl, shorebirds and bald eagles. The area is closed to public entry but there are several points from which birds' fly-outs can be watched. Depending on the type of the bird , the location is good for photography mostly in late October through the whole winter and in mid-April and mid-May. At Piedras Blances Beach, near San Simeon, California, you can photograph the beautiful Northern Elephant Seals. These animals that once faced extinction come to this beach from December through February each year.

National Park Photography

Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, Maine, is one of the best places for fall photography where one can capture sapphire and bronze colors in mid-October when they reach their peak. The Death Valley, California is the place where the movie crew of the first Star Wars movie shot the sand dunes. Because of its remote location from urban areas, the Death Valley has dark skies during nights, perfect for astrophotography.

Tree Photography

Two and a half hours east of Los Angeles, Joshua Tree National Park is a place where the rare Joshua tree grows. The "forests" of the tree are spread so the biggest challenge is composing photography by grouping the trees rather than isolating one or a few trees. One of the biggest National Parks, Yellowstone, Wyoming, has a variety of trees suitable for taking unusual photographs.

Urban Photography

San Francisco, California, is one of the best places for urban photography because of its diverse culture, ocean scenery and unusual topography. The city has a number of contrasting areas such as Nob Hill, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf and Haight Ashbury. New Orleans is a city with diverse architecture and shocking economic disparities. The sites that are interesting for photography include the French Quarter, Preservation Hall, Jackson Square Park and the Old Absinthe House.
