How to Create Photo Postcards Using Soy Ink

Photo postcards require a lot of ink in printing, as regular ink imprints deep into the fibers of the paper. Soy ink is a good alternative to regular inks. It is lighter on paper, easily removable for recycling and it releases fewer harmful compounds into the air. Creating photo postcards with soy ink can be done on any inkjet printer.

Instructions

    1

On your computer's desktop, open the photo that you wish to print.

    2

Install the soy ink cartridge in place of your regular ink cartridge. It will be the same size and have a similar look. Follow the instructions given by your printer or printer manual to complete the installation.

    3

Remove all paper from your printer. Insert only the postcard paper on which you wish to print.

    4

Open your photo editing program's "Print Options" window. Set the "Paper Size" to the size of your postcard.

    5

Select the number of copies that you wish to print. Click "Print."

    6

After each postcard prints, set it aside to dry individually. Do not allow them to pile up, to avoid smudging. Soy ink will take longer to dry than printer ink, so allow the cards to dry for at least an hour after printing.
