2Look to current events and issues for inspiration. For example, if there was recently a natural disaster such as a blizzard or tornado, go and capture an image that moves you from the scene. This could be neighbors helping each other, a dog navigating the rubble or even a flower or tree growing amidst the devastation.
3Capture the photo in a memorable and intriguing manner that gives cues to the viewer as to its meaning. For example, focus in on a certain aspect or object while leaving the rest of the photo out of focus, such as with a scene of disaster, focus on a growing flower with the devastation out of focus.
4Experiment with photo settings. For example, take a photo in black and white to give the scene a darker look or a vintage effect.
5Add in touches with photo editing, such as adding in color to certain objects in a black and white photo. For example, in a photo of a city scene, add color to only a musician playing on a street corner. This makes the scene that of culture and music for the viewer and not simply about the urban environment surrounding it.
