How to Display Geotag Information in a Photo ~ Enhance Photography Skill

Geotagging lets you attach geographical information to a photo, making it possible for you to view the photo's exact latitude and longitude coordinates and locate it on a map. This process is also helpful in finding directions, location-based news, websites, nearby establishments and other digital and online resources related to the photo. The location information is embedded as a metadata in the EXIF (exchangeable image file) part of the image.

Instructions

Choose an imaging software or online program that lets you store and display Exif data (see Resources). These programs also provide geotagging features so you can manually place your photo's location information on it.

Open your selected photo in your imaging software or online program. Look for the "Show Exif Data" button to display the photo's geotag information. The exact button name and location depends on the program you use.

Wait for a new window or Web page to appear. This will show you the geotag information for the selected photo.

Highlight or select a particular photo, then click the "Map" link on your imaging software or online program.

Wait for the map window to appear until it shows the exact location of your photo on the map. Use the map's controls to further explore your photo's geographical location. You can zoom in or out or move around going to the left, right, top and bottom of the photo.
