How to Transfer 35mm Film to a Computer

While technology moves everything forward, including photography, that doesn't mean that you have to throw your old photos out. Technology, that very same culprit that forcefully moves things along, is also your friend in this case. With a little bit of time dedicated to set up and literally seconds per image, you can convert your 35mm film to a digital format for easier sharing, editing, and archiving.

Instructions

Purchase a scanner that offers film scanning capability. One example is the Film2SD scanner by Ion.

Plug the scanner into a power outlet.

Turn the unit on. Insert the provided SD card into its slot.

Place the film into the tray and press "Ok" to capture the image. Repeat this step for each slide.

Plug a memory card reader into an available USB port on your computer.

Insert the SD card into the memory card reader and copy the images to your computer.
