Technology is a great thing: 100 years ago, photography consisted of standing with braces on your neck while a photographer acted like an ostrich, burying his head under a blanket to try and take your photo. Today, you have the option of taking streaming photos and creating a virtual tour of a room. These virtual tours are not a single photo but a string of photos laced together using a computer program. While it sounds complex, the process is fairly simple.
Instructions

Identify the center point of the room. Position the camera in the center of the room on a tripod. Lock the camera level in place so that it can rotate only in a circle without going up and down.
2Take photos with each photo overlaying the edge of the prior photo. The more photos you take, the larger the file will be, but the more the photos overlap, the smoother the 360-degree rotation will be. If your camera has a panorama setting, use it. This will give you a ghost image that you can match up for ideal positioning.
3Load your photo-editing software. You can purchase a program from any computer retailer or download a freeware or shareware option. When reviewing for software, make sure the software advertises that it can produce 360 degree photos. Not all photo-editing software can do so. If in doubt, review "user reviews" of the software online, which can be found at different retail websites.
4Load the photos onto your computer. To make locating them easy, establish a separate folder on your desktop where you will save only the photos of the room.
5Open your pictures in the photo-editing program and thread them together. No two programs operate in the same manner, so review the Help files for your program or the software maker's website for specific how-to instructions for lacing the photo's together. Typically, you open the first photo and then the second photo, clicking on specific points that are identical in both. Once you have clicked on those points, you click on the lacing option, which pulls the photos together. Once you have loaded the last picture, you click on the points that are in both the last and first picture, lace them together, and you have a 360-degree virtual tour of the room.
