Studio strobes are commonly used in photography studios to provide adequate lighting to any subject. These are generally more powerful than on-camera flashes and allow fast consecutive shooting since they recharge very quickly when plugged in. There are also many different accessories such as reflectors, diffusers and grid spots that can be attached to strobes to achieve varied lighting effects.

Extend the tripod base of your light stands for stability. Mount each studio strobe on each light stand. Depending on your studio strobe kit, attach the light diffusers, either light umbrellas or soft boxes to the strobes.
2Position both studio strobes opposite each other, facing your subject about three feet away. Set the power output on one of the strobes to "full power" for it to act as your main light which will strongly illuminate your subject. Set the other strobe to "1/2 or 1/3 power" so it can serve as your fill-in light which will soften shadow casts from your main light.
3Mount the camera on a tripod to avoid shaking and to ensure that you will come up with sharply focused photographs.
4Connect your camera to one of the strobes using a synchronization (sync) wire. This will trigger both strobes to flash when you press your camera's shutter button. Also try a transmitter attached to your camera and receiver attached to your strobe for wireless operation.
5Set your camera to manual exposure. Use a separate light meter to get the precise incident light reading on the intensity of light falling on the subject. Follow the light meter's recommended aperture and speed setting in your camera.
6Take test shots and view the results on your camera's LCD screen. Reposition your strobes higher, lower, closer or farther from your subject to get your desired lighting effect.
