Set your camera's flash setting to "Off." Flash will create unnecessary glare and reflections that disrupt the main reflection in your image.
2Settle on a reflective surface. You may use anything from bodies of water and wet surfaces to glass, mirrors, reflective objects and naturally reflective surfaces like human or animal eyes.
3Frame the image so that the entire reflection appears in the frame.
4Split the image between the real image and the reflection. With water, for example, frame the image so that the subject's reflection in the water covers the bottom half of the image while the subject itself covers the top half.
5Take a few exposures and review them. Check to see if your framing emphasizes the symmetry of the reflected images or focuses clearly on the subject and reflection. Too much extraneous space or subject matter in the image will distract from the reflection.
6Include yourself in the image. Taking a photograph of a human eye, for example, will reveal a "fish eye" reflection of you taking the photo. Consider whether your image adds or detracts from the subject. This technique can prove effective in drawing attention not only to the beauty of the person's eye but also the nature of photography as a collaborative experience.
7Take several different exposures of the subject with different framing and angles. This will give you a variety of options to choose from and can sometimes produce beautiful, unexpected images.
