Wash your cotton muslin backdrop with mild detergent in cold water on the gentle cycle. If your backdrop is not machine washable, you will need to perform spot treatments to clean it. Use a soft scrub brush and scrub the area with warm water and just a little laundry detergent. It is best to allow the backdrop to air dry to prevent any shrinking. No matter what method of cleaning, always air dry your backdrop.

Always store your backdrop in a dry place. Storing in a damp area will cause mildew and mold to grow on it. It is best to not fold it but rather scrunch the muslin loosely. This will prevent patterned creases and folds that would have to be smoothed out before use. Scrunching the muslin will create random wrinkles that will add dimension to your backdrop if you decide to leave them. If not, the loose wrinkles will fall out easily with a light shake of the fabric.
