Place your point-and-click digital camera in macro mode or attach a macro lens to a DSLR camera. Macro mode point and click cameras mimics a macro lens on a DSLR camera and allows you to take close-up photographs of small objects, such as dew drops on grass. The standard symbol for macro mode on cameras is a picture of a flower. Many point-and-click cameras have a dedicated button for macro mode, which is marked with the flower symbol.
Place the camera on a tripod or other sturdy location to minimize camera shake when taking the photograph. Camera shake creates a blur in your photograph, which is especially evident when taking photographs of small objects.
Attach a remote control shutter release to the camera or set the self timer. Both the remote control shutter release and the self timer minimize camera shake by allowing you to keep your hands off of the camera when the shutter releases.
Frame the dew drop or drops using the viewfinder and zoom in or out as desired. DSLR camera users can tweak the focus by placing the camera and lens in "Manual" mode and twisting the focus ring on the lens as needed.
Press the shutter button on the camera and remove your hands so you don't cause any camera shake when the shutter releases, or press the shutter button on your remote control, if you have one.
