Guide on How to Photograph

Taking a good photo can seem a complex and difficult task, as there are so many different things to consider. These tips give you the fundamental basics of how to go about taking professional-looking and interesting photos without paying out cash for lessons from an expert.

Instructions

    1

Move in close if you are focusing on a single subject to maximize its emphasis and make it more impressive to look at. Make sure that the background is plain and uncluttered as confusing backgrounds can distract the viewer from the subject of your photo.

    2

Get down to eye level when taking photos of young children or animals. Do not worry too much about ensuring that they are looking directly into the camera because the angle alone will make the photo more inviting and intimate.

    3

Lock the focus by gently pressing the shutter button half way down before pressing it all the way down to take your photo. This will make your photo sharp and give it a professional feel.

    4

Bring your subject off-center. It is a common misconception for amateur photographers to assume that subjects need to be firm in the center of the frame to be noticed. Letting your viewer's eyes travel around the photo to find the subject actually makes a much more enticing picture and brings it to life.

    5

Watch carefully where the light is coming from and look at the effects it has on your photo. Great light makes for great photos. Create your own light by using the flash setting even when outdoors, as it will brighten up darker shadows and improve the quality of your picture.
