Navigate to the Picnik website and click the button marked "Get started now!" On the next page, click "Upload Photo." Navigate to the folder where you keep your pictures and select the one you would like to upload and edit.
Click the auto-fix button to allow Picnik to make corrections to your photo for you. Click the rotate button if you think the picture is turned the wrong direction. Use the Straighten slider to rotate the image either to the left or right, or draw a line across any edge which should be straight. Click "OK."
Click crop and drag the gray buttons to select a portion of your image. Click "OK" to crop it. Click the resize button to size your picture up or down. Make sure that the check mark next to "Keep Proportions" is checked, and type the maximum dimensions in the field which represents the picture's longest dimension. The number you choose should be no wider than 600 pixels if you're planning to share the picture on the web. Click "OK" again.
Click "Exposure" to fix your picture's brightness and contrast manually. If you plan to use this option, you should not use the Auto-Fix feature, or you should undo any previous auto-fix. Use the exposure slider to increase or decrease the brightness, and the contrast slider to increase or decrease the amount of detail in your picture. Note that in most cases, increasing contrast will decrease the details rather than heightening them. Click the "Advanced" button to control the highlight and shadow of your picture. Click "OK" to save.
Click "Colors" to adjust the color of your picture. You may use the auto colors to let Picnik edit your image for you. Or you may use the "Neutral Picker" to select a neutral gray from your picture, allowing the software to correct your color balance automatically. However, the best way to fix your picture's color balance is to use the sliders above the image. The saturation bar will make your colors brighter or dimmer. Sliding the temperature bar to the left will make the colors bluer, and sliding it to the right will make them redder. Click "OK."
Click the sharpen button to make a slightly blurry picture sharper. Use the slider, or select the "Advanced" button to open the "Unsharp Mask." Select the radius you would like the sharpen, as well as the amount, up to 200 percent. Click "OK." Click the red eye button if anyone in your picture needs red eye adjustment. Select "Human" for people and "Furball" for pets. Drag the eyeball cursor over the eye to make the adjustment.
Click the "Create" button to add effects to your picture. Click "Save" and share to save it. Click the "Save Photo" button when you are done.
