Perfect skin has long been a highly sought-after beauty achievement. While it is not always easy to obtain perfect skin in real life, it has become increasingly simple over the years to have perfect skin in photographs. With digital photography and editing programs, there are a number of ways to remove undesirable blemishes from photos.
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is an advanced editing software that is ideal if you need to do intensive touch ups. If you are touching up a face that has a large number of blemishes and the blemishes are fairly close together, Photoshop offers more control than some other programs for this type of editing. The "healing brush" tool can be used for quick touchups, whereas the rubber stamp tool can be used for more detailed editing and fine-tuning. The rubber stamp tool can take some getting used to, but tends to give a more natural result than some of the single-step touch-up tools.
Photoscape
Photoscape is a free editing program. It is designed to be user-friendly and allows for quick one-click edits. The touchup tool in Photoscape allows you to select a rectangular area of skin needing correction. Once the area is selected, Photoscape automatically corrects the blemish. This process is great for quick, simple edits on isolated blemishes. The downside is that for more complicated editing work, it can sometimes be difficult for the corrected spot to blend properly with the surrounding skin. This makes the editing more obvious. However, for quick and dirty jobs, this will save you a lot of time.
Gimp
Gimp is a free photo editing program that is often compared with Photoshop in terms of its functionality. It allows for versatility and more precise editing. Blemishes can be corrected using the healing tool. Press "Ctrl" to select a source point. Choose an area of skin that is as clear as possible. Click on the blemish to apply the source point to the area. You can repeat this step as often as needed to clear up all blemishes on the skin.
Picasa
Picasa is a free photo editing software made by Google. It has a number of one-click edit options, and its blemish editing tool is a mixture between more precise editors such as Gimp and Photoshop, and one-click editors such as Photoscape. Under the Basic Fixes menu, choose the "Retouch" option. Click on the area you want to retouch. From there, you can hover your mouse over different areas of skin to see what it will look like over the blemish. Click the mouse again when you find a clear area that blends well. This allows for a little more precision than a one-click edit, but not quite as much as when using more advanced programs.
