Instructions
- 1
Familiarize yourself with the different buttons and controls on the Nikon D300. Refer to the "Getting to Know Your Camera" section of your users manual (see Resources).
2Remove the lens cap and turn on the camera.
3Set the camera into "Program Mode." Press the "Mode" button and turn the command dial until the letter P shows in the control panel. By using "Program Mode," the camera sets the shutter speed and aperture to create the best exposure. This mode is the easiest to use and will allow you to get used to using a Nikon D300.
4Bring the viewfinder up to your eye and aim the camera at the subject you wish to photograph. Press the "shutter release" button down halfway to focus on your subject. Do not let go of the "shutter release" button.
5Press the "shutter release" button down all the way, once you have framed and focused your shot. Look at the back LCD screen of the camera and your image will be displayed. If you are not satisfied with your image, recompose and shoot again. Practice is the best way to learn to use a Nikon D300.
