How to Develope Kodak Hie Film ~ Enhance Photography Skill

Kodak Hie film is a special type of infrared film. These films are used in infrared photography, which is applicable for most scenery, fine art and high-contrast black and white photos. This specific film has a sensitivity to light wave lengths up to 900 nanometers. Because it is infrared film, this requires special care and handling. It must be loaded and developed in absolute darkness, due to its high sensitivity to light. In 2007 Kodak announced the discontinuation of this specific film.

Instructions

Mix the developer and fixer in the first two trays per the manufacturer's specifications. Fill the last tray with water.

Turn off the lights in the darkroom. Make sure the darkroom is pitch black. Painted windows or covers can still let in small traces of light that can ruin the film.

Place the film into the developer. Agitate the film to speed up development time. Leave the film in the developer for only as long as the manufacturer's specifications state.

Quickly remove the film and place it into the fixer. Again agitate the film to quicken development, and only for as long as the manufacturer specifies.

Transfer the film to the last tray. Thoroughly rise the film to remove all excess chemicals.

Hang the film to dry, or place it into a film dryer.
