Photo Per Day
Take one photo per day of something ordinary. It could be your morning bowl of cereal one day, and a bus stop the next. These photos may not mean much individually, but when combined with all the pictures throughout the year, they tell the tale of your life. Another way to approach this theme is to do a self portrait each day. You can chronicle your outfits for a year, or just take simple head shots.
Alphabet Photography
Look for letters that are formed from everyday items. Look at juxtapositions in the place you live or the places you visit. Alternately, force yourself to find all the letters of the alphabet in a single location, such as a playground or your office.
Look at the outlines and shadows that objects create. Use settings on your camera to manipulate what you see in order to create the letters that you need. Use the individual letters to spell out names or meaningful words, such as "home" or "peace."
Spare Change
If you live or work in an area where there are a lot of pan handlers, try beginning a photography theme about the poor. Whenever someone asks you for money, offer to take her portrait in exchange for a couple of dollars. This particular theme may be continued long-term, or be limited to a certain time frame. The montage of photos will be a reminder of the homeless and poor in your community.

Choose a subject that you can find in a variety of settings, such as a tip jar, doors, trash or bikes. Whenever you run across the item you chose, document it. Another way to approach this project is to choose one item and exhaust your photography techniques including angles, lighting and filters on the item.
