How to Put Effects on a Picture Like in a Photo Booth

Photo booths are a fun way to make pictures, either alone or with your friends. Often found at carnivals and fairs, many photo booths give you the option to insert different camera effects, backgrounds or frames into your photos. Using free Web-based software, you can create your own photo booth-like snapshots right from your home computer. All you need is a webcam.

Instructions

    1

Navigate to the Cameroid website, listed in the Resources section on this page. Cameroid is a free Web-based photo-booth software. Other examples of websites that will produce photo booth effects are Seenly and Silly Webcam, also listed in the Resources section.

    2

Click the button at the top of the website labeled "Snap." You will receive a message asking permission to access your webcam. Click the "Allow" button, and your webcam feed will now be shown in the website window.

    3

Choose the effect that you want to use. Down the right-hand side of the window are options for all of the available effects. The default view loads into the "Clear" window, which will provide no effect to the photo. Choose either "Filter," "Distort," "Scenes" or "Frames" to begin adding effects. Once you click one of these options, you will be shown nine different versions of your webcam feed in the window, each with a different effect.

    4

Select one of the nine images on your screen. If you want to go back and choose a different one, click on the photo itself, and you will be taken back to the view of the nine images. Once you are satisfied with the image effect, you are ready to take a picture.

    5

Snap the photo with the shown effect. At the bottom right-hand side of the window, there are two camera buttons. The top button takes a snapshot immediately, while the bottom has a 3-second timer delay. Once the photo is taken, a menu pops up at the bottom of your screen. Here you have the option to upload the photo to the Cameroid website gallery for sharing, save a JPG version of the image, print the image or discard it. Choose the option that best suits your needs.
